Founded in 1984, Microcom began by bringing satellite communication systems to communities across Alaska. What started as a solution for remote television and communications grew into more than four decades of solving connectivity challenges across Alaska and Hawaii.

In Microcom's early years, conventional satellite technology wasn't designed around Alaska's unique geography and communications needs.
So we adapted it.
Through specialized antenna construction and system design, Microcom helped make satellite service a practical option for communities throughout Alaska and Hawaii.
That work eventually extended beyond installation. Microcom worked directly with Congress and influenced a key element of the 1996 Telecommunications Act, helping ensure satellite technology could continue developing in Alaska without restrictions on the larger antenna sizes required by the region.
